Kui-Xian

I walked down the grey hall towards my bedroom as a flash of lightning  lit up the sky while a clap of thunder roared. The sound echoed through the hall then eventually died away. All that was left was the sound of my steps.

Click, Clack, Click, Clack

It echoed through the halls, just as the thunder did, but this sound didn't die out. It was continuous, my companion on this walk.

As I neared my room, I noticed that another sound had joined the rhythm I had created.

It was the sound of tears.

The sound of sadness.

The sound of failure.

The sound of heart-break.

The sound of loneliness.

I approached the door where I had heard the sound coming from. I realized that this was his room. I slowly turned the knob and entered.

Sure enough, there he was, huddled in the corner, hugging his knees while his head hung down.

"Kui-Xian?" I whispered.

He slowly rose his head. I got a good look at him

He is so beautiful. His raven hair hangs in front of his face, and it shimmers in the low light of the candle that is burning brightly next to him. His skin is soft and pale. But it's his eyes that are truly captivating. They are the most beautiful shade of brown. They are like a mirror to his soul: his true feelings always show in his eyes. His eyes, those deep pools of beauty. Everything is in them. The past, the present, the future. Love, betrayal, hate. Pain, anguish. Suffering.

"Kui-Xian..." I repeat his name.

His eyes look hollow. I see no emotion but pain and sadness.

"You can talk to me, Kui-Xian. I'm here," I whisper.

I sit down next to him.

"Kui-Xian," I say, looking at him, even though he doesn't glance at me. He just stares straight ahead.

"Kui-Xian." I am no longer whispering. He finally looks at me.

His eyes.. so empty, so sad.

"They don't go away," He says somberly.

That's because they are forever, Kui-Xian.
